VILLAINS OF THE YEAR
The Government – for all the usual reasons.
Ticket agencies – Especially those with a fees-for-fees-sake policy. Thank God for companies like Brown Paper tickets, as used by Linden for his debut gig.
Lack of communication – Companies and organisations who don’t reply to e-mails still annoys me. E-mail is supposed to make communication quicker. It doesn’t, it just makes ignorance faster. This is a long standing problem. It is especially annoying when organisations e.g. radio stations, which are supposed to specialise in communications, don’t even acknowledge, let alone reply to, a job application for an advertised post. Not only is it lazy but it’s very bad manners.
Silent calls from scamsters offering insulation grants, “Home Improvement” loans or offers to “fix” your computer. We get more silent calls than any other. (Same problem as last year and the year before…)
An individual, who I won’t name, who is involved with an organisation I won’t name. I did sterling work for them and they axed me and then refused to tell me why. Spineless people who think they are better than they are and will get what they deservce in the fullness of time.
The Daily Mail – sorry excuse for a newspaper.
The Kardashians, Louise Mensch, Piers Morgan, The Rangers saga, Rebecca Brookes/Andy Coulson, overpaid whining footballers, the unrepentant bankers, tax-dodging corporations, the cats who shit on my lawn, drivers who don’t indicate, people who try to score points off me and last, but not least, …
Donald Trump – Anyone who has seen “You Have Been Trumped” while know that is only confirms what an odious, self-centred, delusional monster he is. Shame on Alex Salmond for allowing this hideous American billionaire (and his PR machine) to ride roughshod over the laws of Scotland and destroy areas of great natural beauty and, in collusion with the local police force, bully the local people and for what? A fuckin’ golf course! Just what Scotland really needs. Good on Sir Alan Sugar for having a go at him on Twitter and shame on Duncan Bannatyne for suckin’ up to him.
WHAT DOES 2013 HOLD?
Finish my book(s)? You never know.
A paid job in radio/broadcasting? Working on it.
“Where The Action Is” on radio? Recently revived on K-Town FM and going well.
Hopefully an appearance on Pointless? Had an audition with Kirsty but sadly not this year
Weight loss? I’ll try.
Exercise routine? Once the ankle is sorted.
Entry in for Ian Rankin Scholarship at College? Nothing to lose.
Entry in for Creative Loop? Hopefully.
Other irons in the fire? That would be telling!
Appearance on Channel 4? It’s in the can, details soon!
Trip to London for the Bowie exhibtion at the V&A? Fingers crossed.
Finally meeting John Carter? That would make my year.
Have a great new year everybody and let’s see what 2013 brings…
P.S. I made add things to this blog entry as I remember them.
