Archive for June, 2012

As I intimated previously Where The Action Is is now available as a weekly radio show on Mixcloud.

The show usually goes up at some point on a Thursday but this week it was a day late due to my attendance at the excellent GoNorth Media Festival in Inverness.

Episode #9 is now up and available HERE. The previous eight editions are still available. The shows tend to clock in at about 2 hours long.

Each show features a mix of mod, soul, freakbeat, girl groups, psychedelia and sunshine pop, as well as a number of regular features, including Connect 3 (guess the link between three songs), Birthday, Double Rubble, Wordless Wonder (the Half-Time Instrumental), Land of 1000 Dances, Foreign Language, Death Disco, Under The Influence (a modern track influenced by the past) and Two of a Kind. As the show is no longer on the radio I’ve introduced my own adverts, which are assorted 50s/60s adverts I have in my collection and as well as some obtained from CD or the internet.

Every week I play tracks for people I know are regular listeners as well as those who tune in now and again. Newcomers are always welcome. Feel free to get in touch if you want something played.

The show has its own dedicated Facebook page (“Where The Action Is (Radio Show)“) and I also welcome comments via @jocknroll on Twitter. The show playlist is now published on the Mixcloud page, with the notable exception of the six Connect 3 tracks because they might give the answer away.

I’m keen to return Where The Action Is to a radio station who is willing to host it so let me know if you’re interested.
