Whenever you hear a new band, you always think ‘who do they sound like?” Nothing wrong in that – unless it’s Oasis trying to be The Beatles – but on hearing the debut single from The Young Aviators I was immediately taken back to the 1990s – the era, not the Glasgow band – and a lovelier-than-lovely folk-rock-pop triumverate from Providence, Rhode Island by the name of Small Factory.
Thankfully I loved Small Factory – god, I miss them – and already I can’t wait to hear more from the latest band to roll off the Stow College conveyor belt. Stow’s all killer, no filler roster continues to unearth some gems and The Young Aviators are no exception.
This blog has all but stopped promoting new singles/albums/downloads, mainly due to time constraints and other commitments, but sometimes I have to make an exception and this is one such occasion.
The Young Aviator are an Irish threesome holed up in Glasgow and their debut single “The Question Is” is out on Monday 28 May 2012 from wherever it is that people go to buy records these days. It’s on the Electric Honey Records label.
Have a listen to it HERE on Soundcloud and then do the decent thing and part with a few shillings from Monday.
You can here some of their other ditties on MySpace at: http://www.myspace.com/youngaviators
The single launch takes place at Oran Mor in Glasgow on Friday 1 June as part of the Electric Honey Showcase, one of a number of exciting events taking place during the West End Festival. The Showcase will also feature Danny Aubrey, some acoustic tunes from Woodenbox and the launch of French Wives’ album “Dream of the Inbetween”.
That is all.
